In light of the rapid development of the STM capability and the growing utilization of this experimental tool, together with recent important developments in theory, we feel that it would be highly beneficial to host an event in 2018 for the leaders of the field to discuss their recent scientific findings investigated via STM, and cutting-edge technical (experimental and theoretical) issues. A very significant fraction of the program will be devoted to discussions and potential collaborations.
