Abstract

Tagging jets originated from bottom quarks (b-tagging) plays an important role in various physics programs in ATLAS. It is important to understand and calibrate the performance of the b-tagging. In addition, b-tagging can be sensitive to long-lived particles whose lifetime is within a certain region. I have been working on exotic resonance searches with b-tagging, b-tagging calibrations and long-lived particle reinterpretation with b-tagging involved. In this seminar I will share the lessons and experiences I've obtained and discuss several topics of interest.

Biography

After obtaining my bachelor degree at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2011, I went to The Ohio State University (US) for graduate school, during which I joined the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) collaboration and worked on the Cathode Strip Chamber (CSC) and exotic long-lived particle searches. I earned my Ph.D degree in 2016 and continued my career in collider physics as a postdoctoral research in Argonne National Laboratory (US), working with the ATLAS group. I have been based at CERN (Switzerland) since 2016 and leading several physics analyses and flavor tagging efforts.
